Why you should show your child you are learning too

Its interesting as adults, that we can simply stop learning. We go to work, do the same thing we did yesterday, come home and look after the kids...

This year, I am learning heaps.

I have registered with several different training courses and come home and tell my family what I learnt today after I hear about what they learned at school today.

My son kept saying, "so you taught the class?"

"No son, I am a learner. I am like you, a student in the class."

"So you are learning something new?"

"That is right."

It got my son thinking, my mum still learns, even though she is old. He didn't say this but that's what kids think right? That as adults we know everything all ready, yet we don't. We all know with parenting we are learning every step of the way!

At the start of school holidays you are ready, ready for your child's full energy and ready to entertain all day but what you are not ready for are the quick to tears and the tantrums.

What is going on with your child!?

They are tired.

School is over. All that focus, listening and learning has taken a huge amount of their day and on top of that if they do an after school sport or play. Plus homework.

So knowing this, in their first few days off school, its best to do low key activities and for you too. Continue to go outdoors and play at playgrounds but do enjoy an afternoon siesta or one full day at home before you really go big on the school holidays events and activities.

Also, you understand your child more. Whatever they are complaining about, isn't the real issue, its just they have reached their limit and are telling you, 'Hey, I am tire…
