Are you still learning?

Its interesting as adults, that we can simply stop learning. We go to work, do the same thing we did yesterday, come home and look after the kids...
This year, I am learning heaps.
I have registered with several different training courses and come home and tell my family what I learnt today after I hear about what they learned at school today.
My son kept saying, "so you taught the class?"
"No son, I am a learner. I am like you, a student in the class."
"So you are learning something new?"
"That is right."
It got my son thinking, my mum still learns, even though she is old. He didn't say this but that's what kids think right? That as adults we know everything all ready, yet we don't. We all know with parenting we are learning every step of the way!
Now, when I go to aerial silk (view my get fit for mums blog here), my son says, "So Mum, you are learning to aerial silk?"
"That's great Mum."
"Thank you, I am really enjoying it."
I take him when I can so he can see the improvement I am making, so he also learns I don't become an expert even in one class. I learnt the basics and from there, each class I learn the next step and then the next, until I am fully competent in one section. Just like he learns at school.
I think it is really important for kids to learn that their parents are learning new things too. It changes their mindset that they stop learning when they are older and they might even be more excited about learning something new to share at the family table, so Mum doesn't take all the spotlight.
